2nd Grade discussed Point of View and why artist chose to illustrate the same idea, but in different ways. We look at artwork about snow, flowers, people, and animals. Art is not always just about the act of create, but the sharing of that creation with others. It is important to make sure that the way which we dipict our idea helps us share that idea with our views. If we draw a growling tiger, it really does not show the playful side of tigers that we wanted to show our viewers.
I presented Kindergarten with a demonstration on Collage. The demo went through the collage process step-by-step from idea to a finished picture. I also show them several kinds of collages from non-representational to realistic. This seemed to get them motivated to get them to try Collage.
Lastly, 1st Grade was introduced to Dioramas. I love that Dioramas are 3D scenes that capture an idea. I play a sort video that show them not only the steps to make a Diorama, but how different artists have made art in this manner. To help the further, my 393 student, Ms. Holmes, made an example for them. This way they could really see how they could use the space in the box. Here is her example....
We mainly got our boxes and got the background started. Next week they will be working on bringing their ideas to life!
As always here is a highlight of our busy week....
