Meet Millie
Millie is a new visitor to the Art Room this year. Not only does she love art, but she loves to share about art and inspire students to create their own masterpieces. She is a little shy to talk in front of a large crowd so she writes books that she shares with the students at KPS. Her books are always changing and are on topics that she has been reading about in the library. They range from holidays, to biographies, weather, and famous artists.
Recently, Millie has begun a challenge for the 1st graders to read more about Art. Students are encouraged to check-out books from Millie's Favorite Book list. They can then pick-up a book report form from the art room. Once they return the completed form to the art room they are entered into a weekly drawing for an Art Prize. As many of these books are at a higher reading level. Students are encouraged to work with older siblings, parents, or adults to help complete the book report forms.
